Team History
The STAS Swim Team began in‚ 2002 named as "STARS" ‚when the Rio Rapids‚ Swim Team‚ and Rio Del Oro Racquet Club (Spare Time Club) decided built the first year round swim team.
At that time, the team was a summer only operation, beginning practice and competitions in May and ending the swim season and practices in August. The team began with approximately 12 swimmers, All of then previous members from the swim Summer Team at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club (Rapids Swim Team).
In 2003, year round swimming began at STAS so that the team could compete with the other year-round teams in Sierra Nevada and Pacific Swimming. That year, other swim team Sacramento swim team‚ joinend STARS began STAS.
Swimmers from STAS have had great success at all levels of swimming going from Junior Olympics , Far Western, Western Zones, Sectionals, Grand Prix Series Championships, Junior Nationals, Nationals, World Trials and Olympic Trials, and also top 3 Sierra Nevada and top 10 All American (8&Under), (10&Under),(11&12) Age Group, All American High School
Rio Del Oro Racquet Club and Spare Time Aquatics Sacramento Swim Team has a proud history of success in the sport of swimming.
