GROUP

DESCRIPTION

|
STAS
Pre-Senior
Advanced
Age Group
|
The Senior Preparation or
STAS Pre-Senior Team is composed of advanced "Age
Group" (fourteen years and younger) swimmers who are preparing to
make the commitment to becoming a STAS Senior Team member.
These swimmers typically have shown the commitment and potential to
train at a senior level, but are still in need of some of the
aspects of Age Group Training. For this reason swimmers in
this group will spend time "floating" between the Age Group Team
practices and the Senior Team practices. Thus, enabling an easy
transition between the groups as the swimmer ages and matures.
The goal of the Senior Preparation Team is to prepare Age
Group Swimmers for the increased demands of the STAS Senior
Team. The Senior Prep team, because of the age of the swimmers,
will compete with the Age Group Team. They can expect a descend
amount of dry land and flexibility training and should be prepared
for a moderate amount of traveling if they choose to compete in
meets.

STAS
Senior
Team
|
Beat’s STAS Senior
Team is composed of athletes of all levels of talent,
commitment, goals, and interest. Any swimmer of High School age is
welcome on the Senior Team and on some occasions younger swimmers
that have already shown and advanced skill set, swim technique, and
commitment may be invited to train solely with the Senior Team.
However since swimmers age fifteen and over typically have a very
different meet schedule than the younger swimmers , it is usually
to everyone’s advantage to keep athletes separated by age
group.
The goal of the STAS Senior Team is to help all of its
members reach their own personal swimming goals. Spare Time Aquatic
Sacramento Swim Team realizes that everyone’s a reason
for swimming is different and whether it is for weight-loss,
general fitness, preparation for High School competitions, or in
the hopes of making the STAS Senior ELITE Team the STAS
Senior Team is build around flexibility for the individual. The
STAS Senior Team will have the option of taking part in
weight training, dryland training, and flexibility training. Senior
swimmers should try and maintain 70% attendance and can expect a
moderate amount of traveling for competitions if they choose to

Commitment
Level:
|
The movement to the Senior
Program represents the move where swimming becomes the primary
sport for the athlete. At this point, they need to commit to making
5 or more practices per week, competing in qualifier meets,
travelling to Team Travel Meets and beyond for "relay-only" swims,
becoming a leader on the team in attitude, stepping up the level of
focus in training, and knowing the proper way to do sets with
difficult intervals. Moving into Senior Team should be viewed as a
serious move that the swimmer and their family makes with the
intention of becoming the best swimmer they can become. Swimmers
unwilling or unable to make this level of commitment will be
expected to remain at the Pre Senior level. This policy is in
place not to exclude athletes, but in the best interest of the
child. Parents and swimmers need to discuss this with Head
Coach.
