STAS Pre Team

 

 

 
 Description:         The STAS Pre-Team group is composed of swimmers that are new to the sport of swimming and are not yet able to complete all four competitive strokes legally.  Their major focus will on     technique, becoming comfortable in the water, and mastering all four competitive strokes while having a lot of fun.  Swimmers of this age are not required to attend any amount of practices. The goal of the STAS Pre-Team group is to prepare athletes for the STAS Age Group Team. This includes making sure that all swimmers can compete at least  50 yards of each  competitive stroke legally and are prepared to spend a hour in the water during practice. Training will also include dryland training that focuses on improving balance and coordination in and out of the water. The STAS Pre-Team group might not compete in meets
 
Focus:        To maintain a fun atmosphere while introducing the basic technique and elements of competitive swimming.
 
Ages:        6 & Under All Swimmers 6 & Under are automatically in this level
 
Daily Training:       100 minutes, 2 - 6 days / week

Attendance:          2-3 Practices per week
 
Recommended      Basic Swim Lessons in the Swim School through at least the proper swim level
Experience            or equivalent demonstrated through a swim test. Please note that it is the desire of the STAS Coaching Staff to ensure that all swimmers have a positive attitude with the sport of swimming. If the 
                              coaches do not feel that a swimmer is ready for the Team, they will refer them to a lesson program.              
 
 Locations:                 8 Lane Pool and 2 lane Pool at Rio Del Oro
